This is a recreational league where the primary objective of the Youth Soccer Program is for the players to develop skills, learn good sportsmanship and above all, have fun. The emphasis is on self-improvement - to provide each player the opportunity to reach his/her own maximum potential development for the enjoyment of soccer. The emphasis is NOT on winning: each child will contribute to the “We, the Team” concept through equal and fair play.
FUNdamentals (Grade K-1) are co-ed teams. This is a two-year program where different skills are introduced and built upon each year, preparing the child for game play with referees in Division I. This year professional soccer coaches will oversee the 1-hour sessions beginning at 12:15PM (Gr K.) and 1:30PM (Gr. 1). There are no weekly practices for the K & 1st Grade levels.At least 4 parent coaches are required for each session. First day is Saturday, Sept 12th and runs through Nov 7th @ SBP. *No soccer on Oct 12th. There will be a pizza party sponsored by the Rec Dept on the last day for K & 1st grade levels @ SBP.
U8/Grade 2 is co-ed; Grade 2 practices on Thursday's from 5:30-6:30pm beginning 8/27. Games will be on Saturday mornings from 9-10am @ SBP. The first Saturday will be Sept 12th and runs through Nov 7th @ SBP. *No soccer on Oct 12th.
U10, U12 & U14- there will be separate girls and boys teams.There will be some local travel for grades 3-8. We participate in the Farmington Valley Recreation Soccer League at U10-U14 levels. Children are to be registered in their appropriate age/grade division. We are not responsible for practice or game cancellations due to conditions beyond our control. Practices begin the week of Aug 24th. We are having a coaches meeting on Saturday, Aug 15th where teams will be made. At that time once your child is placed on a team, practice times will be determined and you will be informed by your child's coach. First game is Sat Sept 12th. Last game is Sat Nov 7th. *No soccer on Oct 12th.
Each child in every division is provided with a team T-shirt and team colored socks. Parents for all levels are responsible for making sure their child has their own ball (sizes below), mandatory cleats and shin guards. Please be sure to buy the correct size and put his/her name on it. Additionally, no jewelry of any kind including earring posts is allowed during practices and games.

Fees & Registration Info- Cost covers uniforms, equipment, coaches’ training, administration & referee coordinator fees, referees fees and other fees associated with operating the fall soccer program. Soccer scholarships are available on an as-needed basis; contact the Youth Services Department no later than 8/1 for details; all scholarship requests are strictly confidential. Earlybird Registration Fee by midnight July 17, 2020: $80/player
Regular Registration Fee July 18th-midnight August 9th: $90/player
Any registrations received after August 10th are $115/player.
**We will be having a coaches meeting on Saturday, August 15th to put the teams together. Once the teams are made placement on a team isn't guaranteed. (For those interested in coaches see Coaches Info below)
Refunds – All refunds are subject to a 10% administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals on or after 8/15 except for the following reasons: 1) Medical with a doctor’s note and pro-rated for the season; 2) A residence move to another town more than 30 miles away with proof and pro-rated if necessary; 3) There is a child on the waiting list; 4) 100% refund if we do not have a team for your child’s age group.
Coaches Meeting: Saturday, August 15th Held in the Gathering Room at SBP:
K-1st Grade: 11am-12pm; 2nd Grade: 12-1pm; U10 Boys & Girls: 1-2pm; U12 Boys & Girls 2-3pm; U14 Boys & Girls 3-4pm. Please indicate on your child's registration if you are interested in coaching.
Team Assignments - Team assignments are made based on age. We do not honor team requests or moving up or down a division. Team assignments are also based on the information you give us as to the night your child is NOT available for practices (grades 3-89). We will attempt to notify you by mid-August of your team assignment. Changes in your personal schedule do not necessitate our accommodating your change.
Parent Volunteers - Parent volunteers are a vital part of our youth sports programs. Parents can assist in various ways by being coaches or assistant coaches and/or coordinators for divisions, uniforms, equipment, scheduling and referee coordinators. If you would like a description of what these volunteer positions include, contact the Recreation Office.
Scheduling – Practices are scheduled based on the availability of the coaches; team assignments are made based on the information you give us. Game schedules are based on field availability and some schedules are coordinated with other towns. We do NOT schedule around any player’s personal schedule.
