Soccer Shots Mini is designed for 2 year olds. It is a high-energy weekly program introducing young children to fundamental soccer principles such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. Each child will receive a Soccer Shots jersey. No equipment is necessary. Held at Ahrens Park. No class on 10/11.

2:30 PM - 4:00 PM    Field Hockey, Farmington Valley Field Hockey League - Farmington Valley Field Hockey League Grades 5-6
The Towns of Granby, Avon, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury, Harwinton, and Wethersfield are part of the Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League. Teams will be formed in each town consisting of players in grades 5-6. Teams will practice one a day week and in their respective towns and games will be played on Sunday afternoons in the various communities. Games are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm, September 13 - October 25. No Game on 10/11. (Makeup day (if needed) will be Nov. 1st).  Players will receive a reversible numbered jersey.  All players will need a mouthguard, shinguards, eye protection, cleats and field hockey stick.  Please contact the Granby Recreation office if you would like to be a volunteer coach! Registration Deadline is August 24th.

Combine this with the cultivation of inner peace and the mindfulness of breath awareness. A complete practice for sure. Modifications always offered. Listening to your body always encouraged. All fitness levels welcome. Please bring your weights, exercise mat and water bottle. Class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer in the Gathering Room at Salmon Brook Park. Session is 16 classes for only $30! Come be a part of this fun class and great workout! After a great success during the summer and all of the uncertainty with plans around covid, we want to continue our volleyball outside for a while. Coach Cindy and her staff will offer you some volleyball after your school day. Whether learning to play for the first time or for those with more experience, our volleyball program moves the young athletes toward their goals. There will be more courts available. Every player will play in a group of their own skill/age level. Both individual and small group instructions will be provided. Players will learn and refine their volleyball skills, passing, setting, hitting, and serving.Each practice will be packed full of fun and drills, games, and activities. And did we mention fun? Lots of fun!! Free shirt included!*You will need to wear a mask when you are not actively playing.

Join well-known certified dog trainer Kim MicHalewicz for this great introductory 7 week course to learn how to effectively communicate with your best friend. Time will be spent learning to socialize your dogs to a variety of situations. Learn about normal canine behavior and how to problem solve to help your dog fit into our human world. Appropriate household behavior, handler attention, basic obedience and coming when called will be covered. Open to all dogs. There is no prerequisite for this class. *There are 3 different sessions: Monday & Tuesday evenings and Friday mornings. Does your child want to get faster as a runner? Every sport requires speed. Whether it is an explosive first step or getting to the ball faster, your child will benefit from taking time to get faster. For four weeks, your child can focus on speed in a responsible fashion. We will utilize time tested drills and activities to help your child improve their speed.  Over these four weeks your child will develop more efficient running techniques and work hard at improving on their own speed and quickness outdoors and under the watchful eyes of adults. This speed development activity will be four Thursdays beginning September 24 through October 15 from 3:30 until 4:30.Bring a water bottle, running shoes, and be prepared for some work!Due to Covid guidelines, masks will be required when not exercising or drinking water.

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM    Pawsitive Steps Dog Training Intermediate Classes - Pawsitive Steps Dog Training Intermediate Classes:Thursdays
This 7 week course is open to puppies and dogs that know the basic obedience commands like sit, down, touch, come and walking nicely on leash. This class is geared to take your dog to the next level of training. You will take the behaviors your dog knows and work on them using a variety of distractions, increased distance and duration. We will slowly increase the criteria each dog is able to succeed at. We will also be working on getting your dogs to work for us without a treat on our bodies. After a great success during the summer and all of the uncertainty with plans around covid, we want to continue our volleyball outside for a while. Coach Cindy and her staff will offer you some volleyball after your school day. Whether learning to play for the first time or for those with more experience, our volleyball program moves the young athletes toward their goals. There will be more courts available. Every player will play in a group of their own skill/age level. Both individual and small group instructions will be provided. Players will learn and refine their volleyball skills, passing, setting, hitting, and serving.Each practice will be packed full of fun and drills, games, and activities. And did we mention fun? Lots of fun!! Free shirt included!*You will need to wear a mask when you are not actively playing.

Does your child want to get faster as a runner? Every sport requires speed. Whether it is an explosive first step or getting to the ball faster, your child will benefit from taking time to get faster. For four weeks, your child can focus on speed in a responsible fashion. We will utilize time tested drills and activities to help your child improve their speed.  Over these four weeks your child will develop more efficient running techniques and work hard at improving on their own speed and quickness outdoors and under the watchful eyes of adults. This speed development activity will be four Thursdays beginning September 24 through October 15 from 3:30 until 4:30.Bring a water bottle, running shoes, and be prepared for some work!Due to Covid guidelines, masks will be required when not exercising or drinking water.

Coach D'Angelo, his coaching staff and players will work with the kids on ball handling, passing, shooting and incorporate skills games. It is a great way to spend a day off from school and get some outdoor exercise. Each participant should bring their own basketball and water bottle. App Inventors (grades 4-6) Want to know how the apps work on your phone or iPad? Or do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it? In this no-experience-required course, we use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build apps of their own with the support of Circuit Lab instructors.

Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. Each child will receive a Soccer Shots jersey. Join us for our 3rd Annual 5K Pumpkin Run on Sunday, October 18th (rain date Sunday, October 25th). Check in begins at 8 am and the race starts at 9 am. This timed, 2-loop course in beautiful Salmon Brook Park is mostly grass terrain around the soccer and baseball fields. Run your best 5K EVER on this mostly flat course with this no pressure, low key event. Pumpkin medals for all participants! Open to all ages. Run, walk, push a stroller or walk your dog-whichever you choose-just have fun!! Due to Covid restrictions no day of registrations will be accepted. You must register on line.
 
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM    Field Hockey, Farmington Valley Field Hockey League - Farmington Valley Field Hockey League Grades 5-6
The Towns of Granby, Avon, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury, Harwinton, and Wethersfield are part of the Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League. Teams will be formed in each town consisting of players in grades 5-6. Teams will practice one a day week and in their respective towns and games will be played on Sunday afternoons in the various communities. Games are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm, September 13 - October 25. No Game on 10/11. (Makeup day (if needed) will be Nov. 1st).  Players will receive a reversible numbered jersey.  All players will need a mouthguard, shinguards, eye protection, cleats and field hockey stick.  Please contact the Granby Recreation office if you would like to be a volunteer coach! Coach Cindy and her staff will offer you some volleyball after your school day. Whether learning to play for the first time or for those with more experience, our volleyball program moves the young athletes toward their goals. There will be more courts available. Every player will play in a group of their own skill/age level. Both individual and small group instructions will be provided. Players will learn and refine their volleyball skills, passing, setting, hitting, and serving.Each practice will be packed full of fun and drills, games, and activities. And did we mention fun? App Inventors (grades 4-6) Want to know how the apps work on your phone or iPad? Or do you already have the next great app idea, and just need to know how to make it? In this no-experience-required course, we use MIT App Inventor software to make fun, creative apps for Android phones and tablets. We will also explore wireless communication by building custom bluetooth hardware controllers and readouts for our apps. Participants will learn both the programming and design aspects of creating great apps, and have the opportunity to build apps of their own with the support of Circuit Lab instructors.

Soccer Shots Mini is designed for 2 year olds. It is a high-energy weekly program introducing young children to fundamental soccer principles such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game. Through fun games, songs and positive reinforcement, children will begin to experience the joy of playing soccer and being active. Each child will receive a Soccer Shots jersey. No equipment is necessary. Held at Ahrens Park. No class on 10/11.
 
2:30 PM - 4:00 PM    Field Hockey, Farmington Valley Field Hockey League - Farmington Valley Field Hockey League Grades 5-6
The Towns of Granby, Avon, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury, Harwinton, and Wethersfield are part of the Farmington Valley Girls Field Hockey League. Teams will be formed in each town consisting of players in grades 5-6. Teams will practice one a day week and in their respective towns and games will be played on Sunday afternoons in the various communities. Games are scheduled on Sunday afternoons at 2:30pm, September 13 - October 25. No Game on 10/11. (Makeup day (if needed) will be Nov. 1st).  Players will receive a reversible numbered jersey.  All players will need a mouthguard, shinguards, eye protection, cleats and field hockey stick.  Please contact the Granby Recreation office if you would like to be a volunteer coach! Registration Deadline is August 24th.

This 7 week course is open to puppies and dogs that know the basic obedience commands like sit, down, touch, come and walking nicely on leash. This class is geared to take your dog to the next level of training. You will take the behaviors your dog knows and work on them using a variety of distractions, increased distance and duration. We will slowly increase the criteria each dog is able to succeed at. We will also be working on getting your dogs to work for us without a treat on our bodies.
