Our youth tennis lessons are geared to the beginner and intermediate youth player. Summer youth tennis lessons are instructed by Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis team Coach. Participants should bring an appropriately sized racquet, lots of water, towel and sneakers. Our two-week lessons are held Mondays-Thurdays, Fridays will be used to make up cancelled lessons due to heavy rain, etc. Lessons are held at the Salmon Brook Park Tennis Courts. Cooking is a life skill that incorporates not only health & nutrition, but also math, literacy, geography, and creativity.  Participants will learn how to work together to create delicious meals that can be easily replicated at home.   This program is held at the Holcomb Farm and is led by Alicia Newton, a nutritionist with 8 years of experience teaching children nutrition and cooking skills.

Walking is an easy and inexpensive way to get moving....join our walking club & come walk with us every Tuesday from 12:00-12:45 pm at the beautiful Salmon Brook Park during the lunch time hour. Meet at the Recreation Office. We will be staying on the pavement and walking around the park for 45 minutes of fitness, conversation and fun. We can all motivate each other at this weekly scheduled walk. Dogs and strollers are welcome! Dress for the weather! Registration is required. We are looking for a volunteer to lead this group! This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.  IMPORTANT:  Click here to access the required online component. Consistent with the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, BLS is the foundation CPR/AED program typically required for healthcare providers and public safety professionals. Through the use of lecture, skills demonstration and practice, case-based emergency response scenarios, and reflection and debriefing activities with a focus on team-based response, BLS builds the key critical thinking, problem solving, and team dynamic skills that are needed to drive better patient outcomes. This program is held on Monday evenings in the community gym at Granby Memorial High School. Pick-up games for 2 hours for those under age 35 from 7-9 pm. $50 for the session or $8 resident drop-in fee or $10 non-resident drop in fee. Drop in fees are cash only. Program runs from 9/16-12/9. *Not held on 10/14. Please check the Granby Recreation website Monday afternoons after 3 pm if you are a drop in for updates on cancellations. Drivers license needs to be shown at check in.

New in town a middle school co-ed volleyball program! Spike juniors' goal is to offer age appropriate skill development and game play. Younger players can work with lighter weight beginner volleyballs and lower net heights to encourage success! The proper fundamentals of volleyball, while focusing on individual skills, fitness, sportsmanship and most importantly, having fun while learning to be a great player! The basics will be taught along with an introduction to competition in a developmentally appropriate manner. Each practice starts with the basics of passing, serving, sets or hitting and ends with a game like situation. Coach Cindy van der Mark will be running this program which began in the Netherlands years ago with great success! *No class on 10/8 Participants should bring water, knee pads (optional), athletic clothes and indoor shoes. There is a one-time equipment fee of $45 paid to Cindy at the first practice. This is for a special lite volleyball and club t-shirt with the player's name. Returning players pay only a $20 equipment fee just for the t-shirt. Bring this t-shirt and ball to every practice. This program is held on Tuesday evenings in the community gym at Granby Memorial High School. Pick-up games for 2 hours for those age 35 and older from 7-9 pm. $50 for the whole session or $8 resident drop in fee or $10 non-resident drop in fee. Drop in fees are cash only. Program runs Sept 17-Dec 17. *Not held on 10/8 & 11/5. Please check the Granby Recreation website Tuesday afternoons if you are a drop in for updates on cancellations. Soccer Shots Mini is high-energy program introducing children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using your feet, dribbling and the basic rules of the game.
