Did you know that Badminton is the number two "participation sport" in the world?  It is second only to soccer in popularity.  Increase aerobic fitness and stamina by participating in this weekly program.  Granby Resident, Roger Young, will provide coaching consisting of racket grip, proper racket strokes, court movement, correct bird stance, score keeping, correct court coverage by player and partner, exercise info., and history and facts of badminton.This program is for all skill levels and all equipment is provided! Come join on us on Thursday nights from 7-9 pm at GMHS. See you there!*No class on April 2nd or 16thFUN FACTS:Did you know . . . . . . . . . in top tournament play a badminton bird will travel 100 M.P.H.?. . . . badminton is an Olympic sport?

Join us at the beautiful Holcomb Farm Workshop for a mixed level Yoga class.  Start the day with this wonderful program to stretch, strengthen and restore.  Class begins with a gentle warmup, builds to an invigorating flow and ends with with deep stretch and peaceful relaxation.  Perfect to help gain flexibility, balance, and strength. This class is led by popular local instructor, Mary Ellen Mullins

Being active is the secret to staying healthy! Walking is an easy and inexpensive way to get moving....join our walking club & come walk with us every Tuesday from 12:00-12:45 pm at the beautiful Salmon Brook Park during the lunch time hour. Meet at the Recreation Office. We will be staying on the pavement and walking around the park for 45 minutes of fitness, conversation and fun. We can all motivate each other at this weekly scheduled walk. Dogs and strollers are welcome! Dress for the weather! Registration is required. We are looking for a volunteer to lead this group! Please contact the Recreation Office if you are interested!

Lifeguarding Course - ages 15 and upThe American Red Cross Lifeguarding program objective is to teach the skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Fee includes all materials.  There is approximately 7 hours of online learning that must be completed prior to the first class.  Once registered with Granby Recreation, Joe Lodge, the instructor of the course, will send a web link directly to the participant in order to begin their online course work. Please check your email for a link from healthandsafetytrainingct@gmail.com.  Prerequisites:•   Swim 300 yards continuously using a mix of front crawl    & breaststroke.•   Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object, and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds•   Tread water with no hands for 2 minutes    Certification: American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer:  Valid for 2 years. • Lifeguard Course $365Friday, June 5, 2020, 5 p.m.-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday June 6, 2020 - June 7, 2020 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.Location: Salmon Brook Park.   Please bring a lunch on the weekend days.

Our youth tennis lessons are geared to the beginner and intermediate youth player. Summer youth tennis lessons are instructed by Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis team Coach. Participants should bring an appropriately sized racquet, lots of water, towel and sneakers. Our two-week lessons are held Mondays-Thurdays, Fridays will be used to make up cancelled lessons due to heavy rain, etc. Lessons are held at the Salmon Brook Park Tennis Courts. Don't wait to register as lessons tend to fill quickly.

The Chris Corkum Baseball Program is geared to emphasize skill development. The children are carefully guided through selected skill activities and drills culminating in team play. Each child’s strengths and weaknesses are evaluated so growth is an on-going process. Lecture and demonstrations by qualified instructors enhance this process to its fullest. Videotaping is used where appropriate. Program includes: individual and small group instruction in fielding, throwing, hitting, pitching, base running, physical conditioning and game strategy, with discussion of rules and regulations.

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Baseball Camp, Chris Corkum Baseball - Chris Corkum Baseball Camp
The Chris Corkum Baseball Program is geared to emphasize skill development. The children are carefully guided through selected skill activities and drills culminating in team play. Each child’s strengths and weaknesses are evaluated so growth is an on-going process. Lecture and demonstrations by qualified instructors enhance this process to its fullest. Videotaping is used where appropriate. Program includes: individual and small group instruction in fielding, throwing, hitting, pitching, base running, physical conditioning and game strategy, with discussion of rules and regulations.

Our youth tennis lessons are geared to the beginner and intermediate youth player. Summer youth tennis lessons are instructed by Kevin Imbt, GMHS Tennis team Coach. Participants should bring an appropriately sized racquet, lots of water, towel and sneakers. Our two-week lessons are held Mondays-Thurdays, Fridays will be used to make up cancelled lessons due to heavy rain, etc. Lessons are held at the Salmon Brook Park Tennis Courts. Don't wait to register as lessons tend to fill quickly.
