We will combine deep breathing with basic yoga poses to build strength and flexibility, to energize the body and to improve posture and confidence. Modifications are offered as building blocks or to accommodate past injury. After warming the major muscle groups, deeper poses and stretches are offered, using support when appropriate. We will also build community as we reconnect to ourselves and others in a safely spaced, friendly and accepting environment.

For those of you who want your child to participate in our Salmon Brook Park Day Camp program this summer but need to be at work before it starts - we have just the solution for you - Granby Recreation's Before and After Camp Care at Salmon Brook Park!  We have made a few changes to the registration process but we have maintained the great fees.Before Camp Care Hours - Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 8:30amAfter Camp Care Hours - Monday - Friday: 3:30pm - 5:30pmExtended Care Pricing Options You can register for all 8 weeks of Salmon Brook Day Camp’s before and after care and pay a flat fee or purchase a punch card.  Both options are new this year and the punch card system is intended to assist families who may only need before or after care for their child occasionally. There are 2 card options available one with 10 “punches” and one with 5 “punches” on it. Pricing:All 40 days (Monday - Friday) of before & after care during Day Camp = $575.005-punch Card = $50.0010-punch Card = $80.001-punch Card = $10.00  Each day that a child uses either of the extended day programs will serve as 1 “punch” and the date of use will be recorded on the back of the card; in addition, a Granby Recreation staff member will keep all of the “punch cards” on site. Please note, if you are using the punch card for before care and after care on the same day, this would count as two punches. The card is for use by one family only and not transferable. Each child who stays will use 1 punch (ie, if two children stay from one family it is 2 punches).

Theme: Sticky, Shrinky, Shiny ART-venturesThe amazingly imaginative 2 and 3 dimensional projects in this program will inspire children’s creativity as they experiment with a variety of unique art forms, tools, and techniques. Art explorers create Sequined Mexican Mirrors, Macaroni Mandalas, and Shrinky Dink Animal Pendants. Make Funny Felt Monsters, paint Ceramic Snail Banks, and create Mini Canvas Paintings with Easels. Design personalized Pencil Cases, sculpt Sweet Treat Clay Desserts, and learn how to draw Perspective Landscapes. Plus, paint Goofy Animals on canvases, create Colorful Pillowcases, and sculpt Clay Flying Pigs. These projects and more introduce children to a world of artistic wonder while we encourage their own original ideas and their own unique perception and interpretation of art. All local Covid policies will be followed in regards to masks.

Join well-known certified dog trainer Kim Michalewicz for this great introductory 7 week course to learn how to effectively communicate with your best friend. Time will be spent learning to socialize your dogs to a variety of situations. Learn about normal canine behavior and how to problem solve to help your dog fit into our human world. Appropriate household behavior, handler attention, basic obedience and coming when called will be covered. Open to all dogs. Energy, Forces, Flight & Robots: Grades K-6In this exciting after school series, students explore inertia, gravity and centripetal force! They will learn about tension and compression as we experiment to see what the strongest shapes are. Children will learn humans aren’t the only ones who build things—robots can too…once we build them! We will also learn through play about potential and kinetic energy. Many more exciting topics will be covered throughout the term. Each student will also bring home a cool science take-away every week! **No class 3/23**All local Covid protocols will be followed

Join us for this fun after school program at the Granby Park House at Salmon Brook Park. We will do a craft and activity that will promote fun, wellness and creativity. The Recreation Staff is looking forward to running this co-ed program with any child in kindergarten through 2nd grade. Art projects will be a "make and take" and the cost of supplies are included in the fee. All state and local guidelines with COVID will be followed. Everyone will need to wear a mask and should bring their own water bottle. Participants should wear comfortable clothing that they don't mind getting a little dirty from art supplies or bring a personal smock.

Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.  IMPORTANT:  Click here to access the required online component. This must be completed prior to the in-person skill session.  Please print out and bring the proof of completion to your instructor to qualify for the in-person skills session.
